Team USATF Takes Silver on the Medal Table at the WMA Indoor Championships in Poland

Team USATF placed second on the medal table at the WMA Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland at the end of March. Despite lower numbers than competitors Poland, Germany, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, American athletes wound up behind only Germany with 62 gold medals - Germany with more than twice as many athletes had 100, and Poland (with nearly four times as many athletes) and Great Britain (with nearly twice as many) each had 60. WMA Indoor Championships Non-Stadia Competitions

Masters LDR events were included as part of the Non-Stadia competitions at the WMA Indoor Championships. Heide Moebius took the W80 Gold Medal in all 3 Non-Stadia Events, the cross country event, the 10K and the Half Marathon Road Races. Dawn Grunnagle won two gold medals in the W40 division, running the 10K in 34:24 and the half marathon in 1:16:25. Two other Americans, Fiona Bayly and Roger Sayre won gold in the half marathon. Bayly, in W50, ran 1:23:44 and Roger Sayre won M60 in 1:17:49. Greg Mitchell won a silver medal in the M45 10K in 32:25. Sayre earned his second individual medal, a bronze, in cross country. An individual bronze medal was also earned by Tami Graf W80 cross country. Moebius teamed up with Graf and Kathleen Frable to take bronze in the Women's 70 and up cross country event and Sayre teamed up with Francis Burdett and Dale Flanders to win the bronze medal in the Men's 50 and up half marathon. All told, Team USATF won 7 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze individual medals and two team bronze medals in the non-stadia competition. 
The next WMA event is later this summer in Toronto, Canada where the NCCWMA Outdoor Championships for North and Central America and the Caribbean will be held on July 18-21. Entries Open for 2019 USATF Masters Outdoor Championships
July 11-14, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa

Entries are now open for the 2019 USATF Masters Outdoor Championships, held July 11-14, 2019, hosted by USATF Iowa at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. The meet website has full information. The on-time entry deadline is Thursday, June 13, 2019 at 11:59 pm EDT, with a late entry deadline one week later on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 11:59 EDT.


Entries Open for 2019 NCCWMA Outdoor Track & Field Championships
July 18-21 Toronto, Ontario, Canada 

Entries are now open for the 2019 North America, Central America, Caribbean WMA Regional Championships, being held July 18-21, 2019 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at two of the sites that will be used for the 2020 WMA Outdoor Championships - the Toronto Track & Field Centre at York University and Varsity Stadium in downtown Toronto. The two sites are 30 minutes apart on a subway line, with stations located very close to both facilities. The meet website has full information. The entry deadline is Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 11:59 pm EDT, the same time as the late entry deadline for the US Masters Nationals in Iowa.

East and Southeast Regions Join Together for a Super Regional T/F Championships June 1-2 in Maryland

In June the East Region and Southeast Region are joining forces to offer the first Super Regional Championship on June 1-2, 2019 at Howard Community College in Columbia, Maryland. Entries are open for the two-day event offering the full range of outdoor events, including the pentathlon. Full meet information is on the website. The on-time registration deadline is May 24, 2019, with a late entry deadline of May 29, 2019. For questions see the website or contact the meet director at throwsguy@gmail.com.

USATF Midwest Region Masters Championships
June 8, 2019, Olivet College, Olivet, Michigan
The 2019 USATF Midwest Region Masters Track & Field Championships will take place Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Olivet College in Olivet, Michigan. Entries are open now for this event, which will have a full range of events, including a throws pentathlon. Full meet information is on the website. The entry deadline is Monday, June 3, 2019. There will be no day of meet entries - all entries must be received by June 3rd.

2019 USA Masters Combined Events Championships
June 8-9, Carroll University, Waukesha, Wisconsin
The 2019 USA Masters Combined Events Championships will take place Saturday and Sunday, June 8-9, 2019 at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Entries are now open for this event, which includes a decathlon for both men and women and a women's heptathlon. Full meet information, including entry forms, is available here. The entry deadline is June 1, 2019.

2018-2019 USATF Masters Race Walk Grand Prix Series

The USATF Masters Grand Prix Series goes from November 1, 2018 through October 31, 2019. Monetary awards will be presented to the top three women and top three men racewalkers.  The top three teams will also be recognized. The following national races are included in the series.

To score in the USATF Masters Racewalk Grand Prix, athletes must be 35 or older.  Points will be awarded to the top ten based on the current age grading tables for men and women (10 for first, 9 for second, 8 for third, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1). A bonus of two points will be awarded to any individual who breaks the American record for his/her 5-year age group at the race distance and five points if a world age group record is broken.
