Dear Members:
Since the launch of the new U.S. Center for SafeSport (the "Center") Training in 2017, the Center has been listening to your feedback. One of the most common requests was to combine the three (3) existing 30-min modules into a single, 90-min training encompassing all the core material. We are excited to announce that the Center has launched the single course for all new users on
Although the single course option will replace the existing three-course option, the single course is equivalent to the existing three courses and satisfies USATF's training requirement. New safesport.orgusers will automatically be presented with the single course (instead of the original three courses, new users will only see the single course), and the system will work exactly the same other than this difference. Existing users will complete the three-course training, and the system will operate as it does currently.
Please remember USATF requires members of the following groups to complete the U.S. Center for SafeSport's training: National Office Staff, Board of Directors, registered coaches, certified officials, authorized agents, National Team staff, National Committee Chairs, Association leadership, Youth Committee members, AAC Committee Members, AAC Event Leaders, all meet volunteers in an official capacity, Youth Camp staff, and vendors with access to athletes. These individuals must have a USATF membership, have successfully completed the appropriate USATF background screen (including agreeing to any acknowledgements therein), and have successfully completed SafeSport training before having contact with athletes, and in any event, within sixty (60) days of assuming such position within USATF.
Please see the FAQ below. Any additional questions regarding SafeSport training should be directed to Thanks for doing your part in keeping our sport safe!

How does this affect taking the Refresher course?

Taking either the existing three courses or the new single course satisfies the training requirement and is valid through 2020. In subsequent years, users must take a refresher course. In the first year after completing the "core" requirement, users will take Refresher 1. In the second-year, users will take Refresher 2. A new refresher course will be rolled out each year and follow this pattern.
