Athletes are strongly advised to forward the following information to those individuals who they may designate to receive a credential at a USATF Championship.

In an on-going effort to keep our athletes safe while they are competing, USA Track & Field would like to advise you of the following information as it relates to those receiving credentialed access to USATF Championships events.
As with prior Championships, athletes participating in the 2018 USATF Junior Outdoor Championships and the 2018 USATF Outdoor Championships have the option of receiving one (1) complimentary credential and one (1) additional support credential (at a cost TBD). Those credential options will not change; however, because of the additional access granted to certain credential holders, all individuals receiving either a Registered Coach pass or a Warm-Up pass must be listed on the USATF SafeSport List (found at:
In order to be listed on the SafeSport list, individuals must:
  1. be a current member of USATF,
  2. have completed the SafeSport training courses to be SafeSport Trained, and
  3. pass the USATF criminal background screen through NCSI.
If your potential support person is not currently listed on the USATF SafeSport List, please direct them to visit for step-by-step instructions on being added to the SafeSport List (also called the Coaches Registry).
Note: For those who do not wish to go through the full Coaches Registry application process, the support person should select that they are coaching athletes under the age of 18 where prompted. The NCSI background screen will cost Sixteen Dollars ($16.00) and will be valid for two (2) years. There are three (3) SafeSport courses (approx. 90 minutes in total length) that must be completed at in order to be SafeSport Trained. The SafeSport courses are free of charge and will be valid until 2020.
Additional details regarding credential access, onsite pickup and cost (where applicable) will be posted in the coming weeks under Athlete Info found on the 2018 USATF Junior Outdoor Championships and 2018 USATF Outdoor Championships information pages.
Beginning with the 2018 USATF Indoor Championships, this credentialing policy will be in place for all future USATF Championships, including the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships and USATF Outdoor Championships. While we understand that this process may be an inconvenience for some, it is with our athletes' safety in mind that we make this additional safeguard to our credential process.
