USATF Membership Renewal - REQUIRED for all Officials

For those of you who only purchased a membership for 2013 or for those of you whose multi-year memberships end in 2013, now is the time to renew your USATF Membership. Please remember USATF Membership is a required part of being a Certified Official and any officials who have not renewed their USATF Membership by March 31 will be placed in a 'suspended' status and not be counted as certified until the membership is renewed. Now is a great time to act to ensure you don't have any issues come spring time.

You can renew your membership online at http://www.usatf.org/Products---Services/Individual-Memberships.aspx. We highly recommend getting multi-year memberships in order to receive a discount AND so that you won't have to worry about renewing each year.

Head Official Protocols Now Available

The Training Subcommittee has created several papers which outline activities for event head officials.  They cover most everything the head does, from initial e-mails to crews, contact with the officials’ coordinator, info required from the officials’ meeting, crew meetings, pre-event set-up, coordination with other personnel, post-event actions, and more.   These protocols complement existing Best Practices documents.

Designed for event heads at national championship meets, they're useful and can be adapted for heads at any level of competition.  Papers are available now for Throws (Shot, Discus & Hammer), Javelin, High Jump, Pole Vault, Horizontal Jumps and Clerks; others will follow shortly.  To view the protocols, go to http://www.usatf.org/groups/officials/resources/best-practices/ where you'll find them under the appropriate event categories.
