Alora Williams of Fuquay-Varina is the winner of a 2024 USATF Journey to Gold Scholarship which rewards outstanding athletes across the country who not only achieve greatness in track and field but excel academically as well. Only ten athletes in the nation receive this award from USATF Youth Track and Field.
Alora is a Willow Spring High School graduate with a 4.0 GPA who will attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington this fall with a major in nursing.
She is a 3 time All American in the triple jump (37’8) and long jump (16’8.75). Alora was team Captain with Willow Spring High School from 2022-2024 and was voted Most Valuable Player and Outstanding Teammate Award winner from 2022-2024.

Alora competed in USA Track and Field with the Carolina Allstars Track Club from ages 8 to 13. After the Covid shutdown she joined Track Xplosion Club in 2022. In 2018 Alora competed at the Junior Olympics and placed 2nd in the long jump. In 2019 she placed 6th in the JO triple jump. She competed in the Adidas Indoor National Championships where she earned 3rd place. Most recently Alora placed 12th at the 2024 nationals in the triple jump.
Her parents, Eddie Williams Jr and Monica Williams, are very proud of Alora’s achievements and look forward to seeing her excel with the UNC Wilmington Seahawks where she will compete in triple jump, long jump, sprint, and relay events. The USATF North Carolina Association is proud of her as well. Congratulations Alora Williams!
