The event will feature a total of three races an 8 km, 30 km and the premiere Tsali Ultra 50 km race all held entirely on Tsali National Forest trails.
Organizers are excited about hosting an association trail championship. They are hopeful the NC USATF 50 km Trail Championship designation will increase participation in and bring increased notoriety to the Tsali Ultra event. Likewise, NC USATF officials are very pleased to be partnering with such a high quality event in Western North Carolina. Race organizer Bluegrass Endurance has a stellar reputation throughout the southeastern US.
The NC USATF 50 km Open and Masters Championships have total prize purse of nearly two thousand dollars. The top three finishers in the Open Men, Open Women, Masters Men and Masters Women divisions will receive championship medals and prize money in the amount of $200, $150, and $100 for first through third places. The Masters divisions will be age graded in order to foster a fair and even playing field.
Anyone regardless of residency or USATF membership status is eligible to participate and compete for awards in all three races 8 km, 30 km and 50 km. However, only USATF members who are residents of North Carolina are eligible for NC USATF 50 km Trail Championship status and NC USATF awards. It is the goal of USATF to increase both individual and club membership in the organization. For USATF membership information please visit: www.usatf.org/membership.
